Are you celiac, wheat intolerant or just have adopted a gluten-free diet?

…and you are visiting or planing to visit Spain?

Welcome to Celiac but happy. Here you will find all sorts of practical information for celiacs and  people with a gluten-free lifestyle in Spain. This blog is the English version of the Spanish blog Celiaca Pero Contenta (which in English means “Celiac but Happy”).

We enjoy sharing our personal experiences and information about products, recipes, restaurants, travel, events and even gadgets for celiacs in Spain. Always with a positive attitude :-)

About the authors

Maricarmen and Alberto, husband and wife, living in Madrid, Spain.

Maricarmen, “Celiac but happy“, was diagnosed with celiac disease in early 2009. She writes most of the posts and does most of the “research” always looking for new information. “It was a surprise to be diagnosed with celiac disease because I never had any symptoms. After the diagnosis it came a period of denial and disbelief. Then I realized that I had only two options: being celiac and depressed  or being celiac but happy. I chose the latter :-)

Alberto, “The husband“, not celiac but having a celiac wife means to adopt a semi-celiac lifestyle :-). He does the design and administration of the blog and writes a post every now and then. “Soon we learned something important about the celiac disease: it affects not only the celiac but also the family and friends.”

So far the blogging experience with CeliacaPeroContenta has been so cool that we decided to create a version to provide information to English speaking celiacs that visit or live in Spain.
